OptConnect’s
dedication to helping our community has always been a
part of our culture and the way we choose to operate as a business. We are fortunate enough to be in a position to be able to give back to the people around us that could use a helping hand. This year marked our 10th year participating in OptConnect's Sub For Santa, a program in which we buy Christmas gifts for families in need.
This service project is a part of our year-round internal program, OptConnect Gives Back. OptConnect Gives Back was created under a core belief that giving back to the community strengthens us individually and as a company. As a part of this program, OptConnect chooses charities to work with to provide resources, whether it is through helping hands or material items.
This year OptConnect worked with the Utah Food Bank while also making donations to the local University, the USO, and Veteran Affairs to provide resources as needed to support their initiatives. At OptConnect, we understand the importance of giving back and helping others along their journey. We embrace the philosophy that every day provides opportunities to look for ways to help others. We take time to look for needs in others’ situations and do not hesitate to take action.
To close out our year of community service, OptConnect Gives Back took on a
Sub For Santa service project where we helped to provide materials and goods that would help two families in need during the Christmas season. The families that OptConnect supported this year were in need of temporary support for providing not just gifts for the children and parents, but more importantly, products like warm clothing, such as coats and socks for the cold winter months.
"The families chosen were nominated by employees who saw an opportunity to help bring a bit of relief to these families during this time of year," said Whitney Scow, Human Resources Manager at OptConnect. "Many times, the families that are chosen for this program are families that wouldn't necessarily qualify for government programs but need a bit of help and support during the holiday season."
The families who received the donations were full of gratitude and appreciation for all that had been done. Being able to help provide some of the magic of Christmas means a lot to us, and we're excited to continue to do that for years to come.
"Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself; it's what you do for others." - Danny Thomas
